A gentle two-mile trail winds around the lake, through a beautiful aspen grove (that has spectacular colors in the fall) and along a boardwalk that crosses over inlet streams that run strong with snowmelt in the spring. Convict Lake (elevation 7,850 feet (2,393 m)), is a lake in the Sherwin Range of the Sierra Nevada. The trail is about 3 miles total that follows the shoreline, you can hike in either direction around the lake starting next to the boat launch or cross the bridge over Convict Creek, pass the campground entrance and head to the end of the pavement. We dismount at a scenic meadow located on Convict Creek at the back of the lake to enjoy a beverage and snack.
