World View, Ball Aerospace Demonstrate Persistent Remote Sensing from Stratollite Platform Parabolic Arc, February 28, 2017: World View and Ball Aerospace successfully completed a Stratollite mission earlier this month, demonstrating early capabilities for remote sensing applications from the stratosphere, nearly 70,000 feet above Earth. WorldView-1 images demonstrate the spacecraft’s precise geo-location capabilities and extreme stability. Photo: Ball Aerospace WorldView-3 is a commercial Earth Observation Satellite operated by DigitalGlobe, a U.S. company offering high-resolution satellite imagery on the commercial market. WorldView 2 will operate at an altitude in excess of 800 kilometres and offer target selection flexibility and increased spectral capabilities. Ball Aerospace is completing integration of the sensor for WorldView 1, scheduled to be on-orbit in mid-2007. We built the BCP-5000 spacecraft bus and the WorldView 60 camera for the mission. It collects up to 500,000 square kilometers (200,000 square miles) of half-meter imagery per day, operates at an altitude of 496 kilometers, and has a revisit time of 1.7 days. Once launched, WorldView 1 will supply half-metre resolution commercial imagery content to DigitalGlobe customers worldwide, and will provide still-higher resolution imaging capability than the Ball Aerospace-built QuickBird satellite. Ball Aerospace is completing integration of the sensor for WorldView 1, scheduled to be on-orbit in mid-2007.
